Research activities

The research is focused to deline a course through the sense of Urbanity, its different meanings, phisical and funtional components which interact in a specific urban space to reach a precise image and condiction.

The work moves from some consideration on the term and its theoretical interpretation, given over time, to concentrate a large part of activity on the analisys of case studies, stricktly selected, with the aim of delight the elements and mechanisms that contribute to the formal expression of urbanity in real contexts.

Thus the thesis tends to re-enacting this topic, bringing back its value to a no-temporal horizon and closely tying its role to the very essence of the city, seen as the  man-made product for excellence.

In this prospective, Urbanity is presented as a totalizing concept, capable of interacting with the most current expressions and topics, such as "environmental sustainability", or with the modern urban suburbs and widespread realities.

Researching and teaching activities are related to the PhD program and to a longstanding collaboration with prof. R. Pugliese, DASTU Department of Politecnico di Milano.
